KG), Nürnberg 1902: Founded by Margarete und Heinrich Diehl as artist blacksmith workshop in Nürnberg 1914: Production start for semi-finished brass products. 1917: Raising a metal factory to supply the automotive- and building idustry. 1934: Beginning volume production of fine mechanical components. 1938: Raising a new factory for semi-finished metal products in Röthenbach an der Pegnitz. 1946: Production of the first clocks, mainly alarm clocks. ca. 1955: Production of the first wrist watches. 1957: Acquisition of the share majority of the Junghans AG, Schramberg. 2000: Junghans left the Diehl Group. Today Diehl is an international group for metal processing, controls, defence, and airplane equipment, and still in the family ownership. Comments about the data | Remarks Timepieces (even the many from Junghans) were always only a minor part of the Diehl Group, although the only known to the public, mainly due to the formerly popular alarm clocks. Only one wristwatch-calibre family is known to be made by Diehl, the three variants of the Diehl 156. Already the successor family Diehl 157 consisted of down-graded Junghans calibres. |
