High grade pioneer
Nicole & Capt (Nicole, Nielson & Co) was a pioneer for substantial features. The first patent for a serially produced stem wind and set mechanism was granted to Adolphe Nicole in 1844, thus earlier than to Adrien Pilippe (Patek Phillippe). Also the chronograph as we know it today is an invention of Nicole (1962), and the dial of this watch appears to be made for a chrono feature as option. Mainly the company produced complicated movements for leading English manufacturers, e.g. Benson, Dent, Frodsham, Smith. Only few watches were sold under the own brand.
