Miniature painting
When evaluating such kind of art, notice that the retina of an eye has a diameter of 1mm and the round links of the lady's golden necklage only 0.3mm. Nevertheless the picture appears perfect, even under large magnification - click to the cut with the face to check it. Usually these paintings are made on white substrate, because acceptable grade of coverage is difficult on dark translucent underground, if the last enamel coating should have an absolutely plain surface. Nothing can be said about the price - no relation to any measurable value. The strong gold case is no reason. It is just necessary to bear lots of melting processes without counter-enamel inside the covers, and the final setting of the pearls. Notice that only a small fraction of a group was finally finished, because every tiny damage occuring during manufacturing could never be repaired later.
