Strange design of winding mechanism (Fig.3, 4):
The crown wheel is not directly coupled to the ratchet wheel, but over a rocker cutch A with two wheels to a separate pinion on the pawl wheel B of the automatic gear. This inreases the efficiency of self-winding, because no parts of the manual winding gear are moved, but the high gear ratio between crown wheel and ratchet wheel makes manual winding rather slow - more an "emergency winding" to start the watch.
Attention: Differing from most automatics, this one has no click for the ratchet wheel. The click C (Fig.4) ist the only to disable the maimspring from unwinding. So before removing the automatic brige, the spring must be unwound. There is a hole above the ratchet wheel screw, allowing to control unwinding with a screw driver, if the stem is not mounted.
Saving height (Fig.5):
With an intermediate wheel A between central minute pinion B and a separate minute wheel C, this minute wheel no longer overlaps the barrel. The result is a lower profile without reducing sturdiness or accuracy, and actually this movement belongs to the thinnest automatics of the 50s.
