The watch looks more like one from present production. The near new condition is one reason, but also the fashionable size. The movement was sensionationally thin in the 50s, and is still thinner than the omnipresent ETA 2824. All in all it out-performs every present model around EUR 1000.00, technically and due to the precious materials. A solid-gold dial may no cost a fortune, but guarantees that corrosion will never be an issue, and a not existing laquer can't peel off. And a lead gasket may not be precious, but it lasts forever, and if ever humidity enters, it prevents corrosion as sacrificial anode.
Why all this patter? Well, this watch is still cheaper than a well done volume product popping out of a machine today, despite its longer life span. But compared with other watches from the 50s it is still pretty expensive.
